Aging is a process that involves both a decline in the function of an organism and a greater risk of contracting infectious diseases. It is currently not possible to evaluate all pathogens that cause infections; thus, many pathogens remain unrecognized and are therefore not treated properly, leading to significant mortality among elderly people. With your support, the IHM is applying novel tools to reveal previously uncharacterized causative agents of human diseases. Every newly discovered pathogen is an important step towards increasing of the efficacy of treatment of age-related infectious diseases.
